The Holiday season has come and gone and I sincerely enjoyed rocking glitter, velvet, and all other Holiday-approved looks, so why stop now?
I love to maximize my wardrobe by taking occasion pieces and making them suitable for every day. That’s why, I plan to rock my velvet Holiday dress on a day-to-day basis and I'm going to share with you my tips to do the same!
Here’s how to wear your Holiday dress everyday!
1. Pick the right dress
Play with a dress that falls slightly above-the-knee or is a mini dress. Shorter dresses, for the most part, can be dressed down a lot easier than a midi or a maxi! I'd recommend classic colour schemes too, such as black, navy, burgundy or hunter green. Classic colours are much easier to incorporate in your everyday wardrobe. Stay away from bright reds, royal blues and a lot of glitter if you want to get a lot of wear out of your Holiday dress. Although they’re pretty, they’re harder to wear day-to-day!
2. Layer and add accessories
The easiest way to take your Holiday dress from night to day is to add a few everyday pieces that you already have in your closet. I opted for a grey knit sweater and paired it under my black velvet dress. This adds texture, which makes this dress look dramatically more casual than when I wore it out the night before with a glitter bodysuit underneath. If your dress is more fitted, you can add a leather belt, throw an oversized cardigan overtop and rock a pair of booties for a casual #ootd. Not a huge fan of belts or oversized cardigans? No problem. For an edgier look, try pairing your Holiday dress with a moto jacket and some white kicks!
3. Choose the right tights
Choose the right tights to really make your Holiday dress feel everyday-ready. My tip: favour opaque tights over sheer ones for a more daytime look. You're more likely to wear sheer tights to a Holiday party to really jazz up the outfit, so opaque tights will give your outfit a more casual vibe. Still, opaque tights definitely doesn't mean boring! I chose From Rachel's Opaque Heart Print tights to add warmth, cuteness (cause these tights are seriously cute) and to give my dress the daytime feel it needed.
