It happens to the best of us: we sleep through our alarm on a weekday morning and find ourselves scrambling to get ready in a hurry. Then, we have to get ourselves together in as little time as possible, while panicked and still half asleep.
In fact, sometimes this scenario is just unavoidable. That’s why it’s worthwhile to know a few little hacks to get ready quickly (and still look good) when time is of the essence.
Fortunately, you just need to be prepared and I have just the plan for you so you can streamline your morning routine and get out of the house in no time!
Here’s a foolproof plan to help you get ready in a hurry and still look good!
Know your wardrobe
On a busy morning, it’s key to know your wardrobe and where you can find all your most versatile pieces in your closet. Make sure you always have a simple emergency outfit prepared for rushed mornings such as leggings and a cute t-shirt for school or leggings and a blouse for a more polished look for work. Wear a pair of leggings with an interesting detail like zippers on the back, and no one will ever guess you threw the look together in a hurry this morning.
Opt for double-duty makeup products
When you have to get ready in a hurry, there’s no time for a full face of makeup. Instead, keep things simple and opt for double-duty makeup products like a tinted moisturizer with SPF. It’s the perfect product to have on hand at all times for such an emergency. Other than that, a few swipes of mascara and a few dabs of cream blush will be enough to leave you looking bright eyed and well rested.
Don’t fuss with your hair
If you need to get ready in 15-minutes or less, you’ll have to forget playing with straightening irons or doing anything too crazy with your hair. Practice to art of mastering a perfect ponytail or bun, and come your next rushed morning, you’ll thank yourself. What’s more, a dry shampoo can also be a saviour when in a rush. Be sure to always have some on hand for days where you have to get ready in a hurry.
Have your bag prepped
If there’s one thing I prepare before I go to bed, it’s my purse and with good reason! Make sure to gather all your necessities the night before any work day such as your laptop, charger, wallet, and a snack, and place them in your purse to ensure you won’t forget them as you fly out the house. It’s also a good idea to keep a mini-makeup bag in your purse at all times, so you’ll always have a few key items on hand to spruce up later during the day if needed.
Eat on the go
Though I’m not a fan of eating while on the run, sometimes you just have no choice! Before you leave the house, grab a fruit like a banana or apple, or even a granola bar, and eat during your commute or as soon as you get to your destination. You’ll be thankful you did, later during the day.
