Let’s be real, our purses can sometimes get filled with a ton of unnecessary junk. It happens to the best of us, but it can be avoided if we simply consider the essentials! If you really think about it, there are a few things I believe are essential to get through all the surprises that come up throughout the day.
Whether you’re running out the door late for a meeting or heading to the gym after work, there are a handful of items that will be useful no matter what life throws your way. From hair fixes to fresh breath, these essentials will have you covered.
Here are 7 purse essentials every woman needs!
1. Travel Sized Body Lotion
Being in a rush is no fun because sometimes it means you forget to lotion your legs. A travel sized body lotion serves as a hand lotion and a backup for when you want to bare your legs or simply prep them before you put on your tights. Better yet, pack a lotion in a refreshing scent and it will double as a pick-me-up when you’re feeling tired.
2. Neutral Lip Balm
It’s never fun to have chapped lips and it always starts to happen at the worst time. That’s why it’s good practice to keep a hydrating and neutral lip balm in your purse! You can also pack your favourite gloss or lipstick, just in case.
3. Rollerball Perfume
We can all use a little refresh during the day. A small perfume bottle will help keep you fresh and is very handy if you have a meeting after your workout! Keep this item in your purse and you’ll never feel self-conscious about how you smell again.
4. Gum or Mints
You never know when you might need a breath refresher! A small pack of gum or mints comes in handy after you’ve had coffee or a big meal and are feeling self-conscious about your breath.
5. Powder Compact with Sponge and Mirror
Rather than your typical oil blotting sheets, a powder compact is useful post-workout and for quick touch-ups throughout the day. Make sure the compact has a mirror so that you don’t need to worry about finding a restroom.
6. Hair Tie
I cannot be the only woman who is constantly losing hair ties, right? An extra hair tie is super convenient, especially when the weather starts to warm up! My favourites are Rachel’s recycled hair elastics made from recycled tights because they’re cute, environmentally-friendly and work for all hair types.
7. Nail File
There’s nothing worse than breaking a nail in the middle of the day, especially when you’re wearing tights because you can easily snag them with a broken nail. Keeping a small nail file handy will prevent you from snagging your tights or tearing your nail any further.
