Throughout the hustle and bustle of a new year, we often forget to take time for ourselves. But it can feel so good to take a day or two to reflect, relax, and refresh our bodies and minds. After all, doing this pretty much guarantees a positive and productive week ahead!
The weekend is one of the best times to “self-care” because you’re not being bombarded by loads of work and your mind can take a break. There are many different ways to self-care and below I’ve listed some of my personal favourites.
Here are five ways to self-care this weekend!
1. Enjoy a hot bath
A hot bath always seems to make me feel better physically and mentally. I love to add a bath bomb or bath salts to the mix, light a few candles and play some calming music. Not only will a bath relax your muscles, it will also give you time to unplug from your electronics and reflect for bit.
2. Face mask & hair mask
One of my all time favourite ways to self-care is with skincare and hair care. It’s O.K. to pamper yourself with a face mask and/or a hair mask, in fact it’s recommended. You can even do this while you’re having a bath (score)! No doubt, this self-care trick will leave you feeling fresh and confident.
3. Finish a good book
The weekend is the perfect opportunity to curl up into a cozy blanket and finish a good book. Whether it’s a romance novel or a motivational book, reading allows you to ease up and take time to focus on things you can’t during the workweek.
4. Unplug from social media
Nothing feels better than distancing yourself from the buzz of social media. Even if it’s just for a couple of hours, unplugging from your phone and laptop is beneficial in so many ways. Living in the beauty of real-time is much more enjoyable than scrolling through IG and Facebook.
5. Bake something
Sometimes self-care takes the form of creativity and letting your mind be free. I personally love to bake when I have a creative urge. If you’re not a huge fan of the kitchen, even making a pre-made box of brownies does the trick.
